Planting Bags
Planting bags are used for carrying seedlings. They help protect seedlings from drying out while you are out planting. They also free up your hands so you can plant more efficiently.

A $50 deposit is required, fully refundable upon return of the planting bags.
Planting Bars
Planting bars work well for planting seedlings when you don’t need to dig a big hole. They work well when the roots are not too long and when you are planting lots of trees.

Pull-behind machine planter
Pull behind planters are available for larger plantings.
Contact the Baudette DNR Forestry at 218-395-6039 for tractor size requirements, availability and arrangements.
Pin Flags
The SWCD sells 3 foot tall pin flags with a large 4” x 6” flag to make your seedlings highly visible. Stop by the office to purchase. You can also reserve them with your next tree order!
Deer Browse Protection
Try Plantskydd for deer browse protection. Plantskydd is sprayed or wiped onto trees and shrubs to repel deer and rodents.
Bud Caps work well for preventing deer browse on white pine, jack pine and red pine. You can make your own or pick some up at the SWCD office.
