WELL TESTING PROGRAM

The SWCD encourages landowners to test their private wells to ensure that the water is safe to drink.  We partner with AC Analytical and Consulting LLC, a State Certified Lab that is based out of Bemidji, MN to offer local well testing resources.

YEAR ROUND TESTING OPTIONS

Photo of well testing kitKits can be picked up at the SWCD office and then mailed to AC Analytical and Consulting year round.  Testing options include total coliform bacteria, e-coli bacteria and nitrates, lead, iron, hardness and arsenic.   

The standard test for total coliform bacteria, e-coli and nitrates is $40 plus shipping (current as of 2021).

These test kits are also available at the County Land and Water Planning Office.  

ANNUAL REDUCED COSTS CLINIC

Handing out test kit during well testing clinic For over a decade the SWCD has been sponsoring a reduced-cost testing clinic.  This clinic is typically held in August.  Kits get picked up at the office and dropped off on the final date of the clinic.  

Tests offered during this clinic include:

  • total coliform bacteria
  • e. Coli
  • nitrates.
